Ulysses Guarin Elected as Treasurer and Vice President for Finance of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada at 2016 Quinquennial Session

On August 21, 2016, the delegates and delegates at large attending the quinquennial session of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada (SDACC) elected Ulysses Guarin as the next Treasurer and Vice President for Finance of the SDACC. Guarin succeeds Joyce Jones, who served as Treasurer since 2014.

Ulysses Guarin currently serves as the Vice President for Finance/Treasurer at the Ontario Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. He is the longest serving conference treasurer in Canada, holding his position at the Ontario Conference for more than 15 years. Prior to his position at the Ontario Conference, he served as Vice President of Finance at Kingsway College. His experience in finance equips him with the tools and background for this new position.

“I humbly accept the mandate vested in my by the SDACC constituency,” says Guarin. “By God’s grace, I will do my best to fulfill my new responsibility.”

Guarin is married to Judith, administrative secretary to the President of the Ontario Conference. They have one married daughter and three precious grandchildren.

The 18th quinquennial session of the SDACC is held at the College Heights Church on the campus of Burman University in Lacombe Alberta from August 19, 2016 to August 21, 2016. The purpose of the session is to receive reports from various entities of the SDACC and to elect officers, directors, associate/assistant directors, and board members. The session is attended by delegates and delegates at large – each respectively representing a local conference, SDACC committees, the North-American Division (NAD), and the Church.
