News January 17, 2018

In the light of the imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Adventurer, Masterguide, and Pathfinder (AMP) Ministries of the Ontario Conference have designated 2018 as a special Year of Evangelism with intensified efforts to share “the Advent message to all the world in this generation.”

On Sunday, December 3, 2017, a total of 155 Adventurers, Pathfinders, Master Guides and MG Trainees gathered for evangelism training at Crawford Adventist Academy East Campus in Pickering, ON. Pastor Edgardo Herrera, Share Him Trip Manager, served as resource person. He encouraged everyone to pray, study the Bible, and bring a friend to Jesus. Also, Jonathan Zita, director for Lifestyle Canada Education Service, graced the training event by sharing how young and old alike could share the Gospel through G.L.O.W. (Giving Light to Our World) ministry.

In the past, God had used young people to do His biddings. Interestingly, the Seventh-day Adventist Church was pioneered by teenagers and young adults, who loved the Lord and who were passionate about the Gospel ministry. Surely, our children and youth of today can also be used by God as powerful agents to lead people to Christ, and thus contribute to the finishing of God’s work in this present generation. Ellen White wrote:

“With such an army of workers as our youth, rightly trained, might furnish, how soon the message of a crucified, risen, and soon-coming Saviour might be carried to the whole world!” (Education, p. 271).

“Let them [youth] feel that they have a part to act in helping and blessing others. Even the children should be taught to do little errands of love and mercy for those less fortunate than themselves” (Testimonies, vol. 6, p. 435).

With the power of the Holy Spirit, children and youth in Ontario will be involved in various evangelistic strategies such as small group home fellowship, internet and friendship evangelism, compassion initiatives, Mission Adventures (mission trips), cross‐culture outreach programs, and other creative ministries.

Surely, great blessings await our children and youth as they take part in the AMP Year of Evangelism. As mentioned in Daniel 12:3b (NLT), “Those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever.” So be the “star” God has meant us to be and shine for Jesus in 2018 and beyond!

The 2018 Year of Evangelism is an initiative of AMP Ministries in collaboration with other departments of the Ontario Conference and in partnership with Share Him Ministry and Lifestyle Canada Education Service.
