Let’s Move

On October 23, 2012, the Ponoka Seventh-day Adventist Church sponsored a “Let’s Move” 5-10K walk/bike/run to promote exercise, to raise money for the development of the trans-Canada trail through Ponoka, and to make the church more visible in our community. It was the first time the Ponoka Church had held an event on such a large scale, and there are plans to make it an annual event. The participants ranged in age, from four, to 95 years old.

Janice Clark brought her grade five students from Mamawi Atosketan Native School, to participate.Gifts were donated by town businesses and one of Janice’s students won a prize in the draw. The church was able to raise over seventeen hundred dollars, which is to be matched by the government. Through, this outreach, many people were met on the town council, in businesses and, and in the neighborhood. It was a good opportunity for the Ponoka Church to do something positive for the community.
